Ford will debut its second-gen self-driving prototype at CES 2017

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 event scheduled to be held in Las Vegas next week, bigwig automaker Ford will introduce its second-generation self-driving prototype --- an upgraded model of the company’s self-driving Ford Fusion Hybrid sedan.

The second-generation version of Ford’s self-driving prototype will be equipped with highly advanced sensors, along with substantially improved computing power and proprietary software which will give the car the ability to ‘think for itself.’

This is very different experience for Tesla, which already has more than a dozen other galleries across the US. On Nordstrom's first floor, in the men’s department is the place where Tesla’s Model X electric SUV will be present.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been looking into reports of a suspension system failures in Tesla Model S vehicles. When the nation’s top safety regulator questioned about the problem, Tesla in return said that the system has no problem.

Another matter that came into the administration’s notice was Tesla has introduced a nondisclosure agreement, so that affected car owners do not publicize the matter. When the regulator asked Tesla if it has pressured customers for not reporting safety problems, the regulator claimed the same as ‘preposterous’.

German automaker BMW has bagged the contract to provide 100 electric cars to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), defeating California-based Tesla Motors Inc. BMW will be supplying 100 units of its i3 all-electric plug-in vehicles on lease to LAPD, which will use these cars for community outreach and other police business. These cars will not be utilized for patrolling or car chasings. The new contract will boost the number of electric vehicles (EVs) being used in Los Angeles across different departments to nearly 200.
