After grabbing regional titles in the Western and Central parts of Mass., Tantasqua boys’ basketball team and Concord-Carlisle (CC) are now all set to compete with each other for the state Basketball Division II championship in Springfield on Monday.
Tantasqua fans have high expectations from the team’s balanced offense that revolves around J.J. Howland, while Concord Carlisle fans are looking to forward Eric Sellew to continue his magical run.
The Tantasqua Warriors gained a bye in the first round of the Western Mass. tournament and claimed the No. 2 seed in a 6-team field, kicking off their run against No. 3 Longmeadow. In the Western Mass. final, the team defeated Pittsfield and grabbed a comfortable 70-51victory.
As the apex seed in Central Mass., CC Patriots gained a bye in the first round of the regional tournament defeating No. 8 Holliston in the quarterfinals. In the finals, the Patriots faced Marlborough and grabbed the CMass title with a 41-38 win.
The eagerly awaited Tantasqua-CC match is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14, at the DCU Center in downtown Worcester, Massachusetts.
