Advancing with its plans to make Dan Funston its next leader, public school system Concord Community Schools has started negotiating contract terms.
On Monday this week, a group of Concord School Board members, school staff members and community residents recommended Funston as the school system’s next superintendent.
The full Concord School Board voted in favor of that recommend at its meeting on the same day. The board also directed Transitional Superintendent Al Widner to enter into the contract negotiations process with Funston.
Commenting on selection of Funston, Widner said, “I think we have a quality candidate to help take Concord to the next level. We want to thank everyone – students, board members and residents for their part in this.”
Currently, Funston is serving as the director of e-Learning with Indian-based Five Star Technology Solutions. Prior to his current role, he served as assistant superintendent for the Plymouth Community School Corporation in Plymouth.
Approval of the contract is expected to be announced at the Concord School Board’s next meeting, which is scheduled to take place on April 18, and the new superintendent will likely embark on his new role on July 1, 2016.
