Manchester United can defeat Manchester City and grab a spot for Champions League, Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera has said.
The Spanish midfielder said the club will fight until the end to finish in the Premier League’s top-four, adding that the club should be in the Champions League every year.
On Sunday, the club scored 1-0 victory over Everton, moving back into fifth. Now, the club is one place and one point behind Manchester City. The difference can be wiped out as there are still seven matches left to play.
Speaking on the topic, Herrera said, “It’s not going to be easy … but we have to fight for it and I think we’re ready. We’re just one point behind them and I think the last game we showed that we are a little bit better than them right now. We beat them away in the Manchester derby so we can be optimistic.”
Herrera also claimed that Manchester City could stumble in the run-in, while Manchester United would continue to get stronger as the team’s injured stars like Wayne Rooney are set to return soon.
The 26-year-old Spanish midfielder stressed that Manchester United has more momentum because of their derby victory, adding that the club could win a title for the first time since its last success in 2013.
