Messi looks desperate to bring the glory back in Copa final

It was the summer of 1993 when a boy from Rosario, at the age of only six years, looked passionate to football and began to play it seriously. Argentina was standing tall in the world of football thanks to a Diego Maradona who almost alone guided his country to two World Cup finals, winning one in 1986 and also defending their Copa America title in 1993 with a narrow victory over inspired Mexico.

Having spent last 23 years without any major title Argentine national squad once again has come on an edge of regaining its basking glory. On Sunday Argentina is going to have that rare and most desired dream to fulfill. And the bearded magician with the ball in present day football seemed also to have been absorbed in that deep contemplation about how they will be defeating inspired and hardy Chile to win the Copa America centenary at New Jersey.

Lionel Messi even did not look celebrating his 29th birthday properly. There were his colleagues at the ballroom of their team hotel. But instead of celebration, the players, lead by Messi had reportedly taken the oath that this might be the last opportunity to break the 23-year jinx. Argentine media has informed, Messi had called upon his mates even to die on the pitch if needed for the desired victory.

In the media conference also, the man with golden left leg, has expressed his zeal for the Cup. Messi said, “I do not know whether it will be the last opportunity for us. But even if we cannot win the Cup this time, that will be the most frustrating moments for me.”

Messi who has also been in the race for getting golden boot after scoring five goals in the tournament, said, “We have playing really well here in this tournament. But you have to maintain that even in your last match.” For information, here at New Jersey, Messi played his last match 10 years ago, a friendly match against Brazil. Argentina defeated Brazil 5-4 and Messi struck a hat-trick. Argentine fans must be keen to see that Messi is again bringing the memory back on Sunday.
