Members of the New Hampshire Republican Committee recently chose Jeanie Forrester, a former state senator, as their next state party chairperson.

Forrester was among the top critics of the policies of Maggie Hassan, former state governor who is now a senator. Last year, the conservative leader unsuccessfully challenged Republican Gov. Chris Sununu in the primary election.

Like many other parts of New England, the Granite State is in the grip of opioid (a group of painkillers many patients become addicted to) crisis. Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Perinatal Addiction Treatment Program is an effort to battle the opioid addiction.

A New Hampshire man, who died serving time in a California prison for murdering his wife, was allegedly a serial killer as investigators have detected links between him and many other unsolved murder cases.

Police say Bob Evans was likely responsible for the murder of a woman who went missing in 1981 as well as for the killings of another woman and three children. Evans died in a California prison in 2010.

Snowshoeing is a kind of hiking, and snowshoes are footwear for walking over the snow. Snowshoes are particularly helpful in walking on the snow as they work by distributing the weight of the person over a bigger area so that the person’s foot doesn’t descend totally into the snow.

A 51-year-old New Hampshire woman struck a police officer in the face with her hands while performing a sword trick, officials confirmed.

Lisa Bunker, a resident of Manchester, started performing sword tricks and struck an officer in the face with her hands Monday night, when police arrived at her home in response to a report of a domestic disturbance.

N.H. lawmaker seeks to overturn decade-old smoking ban

New Hampshire Rep. Robert Hill, a Republican from Grafton, has announced a new bill that proposes to overturn the state’s decade-old smoking ban.

Rep. Hill’s proposed House Bill 279 (HB279) would repeal much of the state’s law that prohibits smoking in most privately owned public places, such as grocery stores, restaurants and taxis.
However, other public places like schools and government buildings would remain off limits.
