N.H. vehicle chase ends in crash

A New Hampshire state police pursuit ended with the suspected drunk-driver crashing his car into a house, a spokesperson for the state police department confirmed.

The incident started at around 8 p.m. last Saturday, when a state trooper spotted a vehicle on Route 153 in Freedom that had previously been reported as erratic and a potential threat to public safety.

The officers tried to pull the vehicle over, but the suspect refused to stop and accelerated the vehicle’s speed, leading to a high-speed police chase.

Pointing to the growing problem of opioid addiction New Hampshire, a health expert form the emergency department of Catholic Medical Center in Manchester said that the opioid problem is worse than anything she’s ever seen.

Dr. Rory Symons said she has practiced in several medical efforts, including fights against heroin addiction in Ireland and battle with HIV in South Africa, but she was overwhelmed by the “out of control” opioid addiction in Manchester.

New Hampshire public health officials have issued an alert to medical care providers and residents after fresh data revealed that reported cases of gonorrhea jumped a whopping 250 per cent in the state in 2016 from the previous baseline average.

The N.H. Division of Public Health Services reported that a total of 465 gonorrhea cases were reported in the state during 2016. The figure represents a major jump in the number of gonorrhea cases from the previous baseline average of 130 cases annually between 2007 and 2013.

New Hampshire lawmakers will debate repeal of the state’s controversial buffer zone law after a federal appeals court tossed out a pro-life challenge to it.

The bill in question is Senate Bill 319, which permits 25-foot censorship zones outside abortion clinics where no person can stand, speak or even enter on public paths and sidewalks.

The challenge against the buffer zone law was launched by the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) around a couple of years ago. But, the court dismissed the challenge on Jan. 11.

The controversial bill would require victims of sexual assault to substantiate their testimony in case the defendant has no prior related conviction. The state's existing law does not require victims to substantiate their testimonies.

Dead body found outside burning car in New Hampshire

The New Hampshire Police Department has confirmed that a dead body was found outside a burning vehicle in Stark in the morning hours of Monday.

In a newly released statement, sate police officials said that a local resident was the first person to come across the burning car on Millbrook Road at around 8:45 a. m. and call 911. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, the car was in flames and the body was outside it.

Refugees account nearly 29 per cent of all diagnosed active tuberculosis (TB) cases in New Hampshire during 2014 and 2015, the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) revealed in its latest report.

As per the CDC report, 3 cases of contagious TB or active TB were diagnosed in New Hampshire refugees in 2015, and 4 cases were diagnosed during the previous year. During those two years, a total of 24 cases of active TB were diagnosed in the state.
