Food companies agree to label products that contain GM ingredients

Consumers will likely soon be able to know whether ingredients in the packaged foods they buy are derived from genetically modified (GM) plants, as some big companies have agreed to label such products.

Some companies, including General Mills, Mars and Kellogg, confirmed recently that they have agreed to label GM ingredients like soybeans and corn in food items, even though they continue to insist that it is not a good idea.

Clark’s Trading Post, a roadside tourist attraction in Lincoln, New Hampshire, has posted a wanted advert seeking an unkempt looking man to play the role of its popular “Wolfman” character.

The advert, posted to the roadside tourist attraction’s Facebook page, stated that they wanted someone featuring wild facial hair in addition to a flare for the dramatic to audition for the role of Wolfman character for the upcoming season.

N.H. senators agree to spend more funding to battle opioid crisis

The New Hampshire Senate on Thursday agreed to provide more funding to support the state's battle against growing opioid crisis, but senators couldn't determine where the additional funds would come from.

The state Senate voted 24-0 to spend over $5 million more to fight back the opioid crisis. Of the additional funding, $4.5 million would be spend for treating, recovery or housing programs, while another $500,000 would be spent on peer-to-peer counseling programs.

The proposed plan also states that nearly $150,000 would be set aside for a new drug prosecutor.

The New Hampshire House recently overwhelmingly voted to allow the state to decide how to regulate the use of drones, approving the House Bill 602 with a 251-114 vote.

Supporting the bill, Rep. Renny Cushing (D-Hampton) said that the state would have to rethink what trespassing is, given the new technology allows something as small as a bumblebee to hover outside one's bedroom window.

New Hampshire lawmakers are mulling over a quirky measure that aims to allow adults to join children for playing Bingo games.

The new bill, presented by Republican Rep. James Webb on Tuesday to a state Senate committee, would allow anyone over age of 18 years to play children’s bingo games if they are supervising a kid or kids. But, participating adults would not be eligible for winning prizes.

Under the state’s current law, hotels, campgrounds other recreational facilities have to host separate bingo games for children and adults. Webb’s bill aims to change that.

The two conservative outside issues groups are: the Judicial Crisis Network (JCN), which focuses on legal issues, and One Nation, an advocacy group that has ties to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
