Kelly Ayotte to meet with Supreme Court nominee next week

Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte has confirmed that she will have a meeting with Supreme Court nominee Judge Merrick Garland next Wednesday, but declared that still believes that the Senate shouldn’t hold a confirmation vote until after a new president is elected.

The New Hampshire senator stressed that people should be given a voice in the important nomination of the Supreme Court justice through their votes in election scheduled to be held in November this year.

New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte is trying to hold on to moderates who backed her in 2010 election, while also supporting Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Since announcing his presidential campaign in June 2015, Trump made controversial remarks about Muslims and Mexican immigrants almost every time he delivered a speech. He demanded a ban on Muslims' entry into the nation and called Mexican immigrants 'drug peddlers' and 'rapists'.

Hundreds of New Hampshire residents gathered in Hooksett last Saturday to bid farewell to nearly 100 soldiers who are going to serve overseas.

Two Manchester-based New Hampshire Army National Guard batteries are being deployed to the Middle East for a period of one year. Seventy-three soldiers are from Headquarters Battery, 197th Field Artillery Brigade and 20 are from Battery E, 197th Field Artillery Regiment.

Governor Maggie Hassan and U. S. Senator Kelly Ayotte praised emergency responders who were honored during the North Country Public Safety Foundation's recently held annual awards dinner.

The North Country Public Safety Foundation, which organized seventh annual awards dinner held at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel last Friday, was established in 2006 with the goal to assist then Sugar Hill Police Chief Jose L. Pequeno Jr., who got severely injured during an attack in Iraq, where he was serving as a member of the N. H. Army National Guard.

U. S. Senator Kelly Ayotte participated in recently held roundtable talks with stakeholders from the outdoor, forestry & conservation community of New Hampshire to discuss the economic benefit of preserving the state's natural resources and safeguarding outdoor recreational lands.

During the event, hosted by Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center, Ayotte strongly supported the Land & Water Conservation Fund as well as the Forest Legacy Program.
