Model helps researchers calculate types of stars that formed black holes

Model helps researchers calculate types of stars that formed black holes

Scientists at LIGO observatory created history in February when they declared the first ever detection of gravitational waves. The ripples in the fabric of space-time belonged to two black holes that rotated around one another many times per second prior to merging in a violent, energetic explosion. Researchers have now measured the probable origins of the black holes.

A latest study argued that they possibly belonged to two huge suns that formed nearly 12 billion years back, or two billion years post the Big Bang.

Pluto might be having a liquid ocean underneath its frozen exterior

A new research paper published in Geophysical Research Letters has suggested that Pluto might be having a liquid ocean underneath its exterior. The researchers speculated the same after going through the data by NASA's New Horizons spacecraft, which did not show contraction in the surface.

Study’s lead researcher Noah Hammond from Brown University has come up with the findings after assessing the data from the New Horizons mission. On the basis of the evaluation, the researchers have developed a thermal computer model of Pluto’s evolution.
