Charleston Church Killings: Suspect Dylann Roof sent to Custody

Charleston's mayor said that the act of 21-year-old Dylann Roof to kill nine people in an African-American church was an act of "pure, pure concentrated evil".

The nine people, who lost their lives after Roof allegedly pulled his pistol and opened fire, include a state senator who doubled as the church's minister; three other pastors; a regional library manager; a high school coach and speech therapist; a government administrator; a college enrollment counselor; and a recent college graduate.

Police detectives are trying to identify additional suspects involved in the cruel deaths of the Savopoulos family members by tracing cellphones stolen from the victim's Northwest Washington home.

Detectives hope that they would be able to identify additional suspects from the stolen cellphones' locations and the text messages and calls made before and after the crime that left four people, three family members and a housekeeper, dead.

The young Boston man who was shot and killed by law enforcement officers on Tuesday was target of an ongoing terrorism investigation, Police Superintendent William Evans said.

Usaamah Rahim, 26, was fatally shot by officers yesterday after he allegedly advanced to them with a large knife. The officers, who were working with the Joint Terrorism Task Force, were trying to question him as part of a terrorism-related probe.

Record-Smashing Illicit Drug Arrests and Seizures in Australia

The Australian Crime Commission’s (ACC) annual illicit drug data report, released on Friday, reported a record number of Australians being arrested for illicit drug offences and a record number of illicit drug seizures in 2013-14.

According to the report, there were a record 112,000 illicit drug arrests in Australia in 2013-14, which marks a 10% increase from the previous year. The amphetamines, cannabis, cocaine, steroids and hallucinogens all recorded high arrests.

A Family of Ducklings Lose Life to a Land mower

A family of 11 Muscovy ducklings and their mother were run over by a land mower, though Gontchar and her family tried their best to save the ducklings. Nine ducklings died. The mother and two other ducks survived.

The Florida landscaper, Jason Falbo, 24, has been charged with nine counts of animal cruelty on Wednesday. Falbo is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail on $27,000 bail.

Nine Arrested in Revere Beach Brawl

State police stated that a large disturbance took place at a suburban Boston beach. In the incident, the police have arrested nine people, including eight juveniles.

At around 6.15pm on Sunday dozens of police cruisers from nearby areas had to come to Revere Beach in response to the brawl. Those arrested include five girls under the age of 18, three boys under the age of 18 and one adult male.
