Christie wants to restore enforcement of federal marijuana law

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said that he would restore enforcement of federal marijuana law in states, allowing residents to legally use the recreational drug, if he were president.

Christie, who hasn’t officially declared his plans for the next presidential race, also said that the United States locks up a huge number of nonviolent drug offenders and that there is a need to provide more help to victims of drug abuse.

The Republican governor of New Jersey described drug abuse as a kind of disease, which is spreading as the war on drugs has largely been a failure.
